Pope Benedict can't win...

Another day, another aggrieved group is upset with the Pope. Seems every day, someone is demanding an apology from the Pope for some transgression, be it ancient, recent, true, or untrue.

He simply can't win, because the deck is stacked against the Church. If the Church refuses to be bullied into an apology, well, that means it's rotten and awful. If She does apologize, well, the apology just isn't profound enough.

The Church needs to stop worring about what the "world" thinks of Her. The "world" hates Her and always will. No amount of politically correct kowtowing will change it.

It might be time to get some plywood and cover up those windows to the world that were opened up after Vatican II.

One Holocaust bad, the other good?

Now, the German Chancellor is apparently arguing (as is the rest of Liberaldom) that the Pope shouldn't even allow Bishop Williamson to be a regular Catholic. "No membership for deniers!!!" seems to be their credo.

Personally, I don't care what Bishop Williamson's opinions are with regard to (secular) historical events. The precedent that we seem to be setting here is that membership in the Church now must be approved by the Liberal World, and that anyone who disagrees with the Liberal World View must be stricken from consideration.

Again, the irony is lost on the liberals - they object to someone who denies or minimizes the Holocaust of 60-some years ago, yet those who actively support and facilitate the ongoing holocaust of babies, well, those people are just fine.

The fight against Latin continues...

Some dioceses actually care about rebuilding Catholic identity. Some, like San Diego, look to erect more and more roadblocks to this restoration. Read all about San Diego's shenanigans over at Father Z's blog:

Pelosi meets the Pope ( ! )

I haven't been able to keep up with everything going on this week, but A Thorn In The Pew has, and she expresses amazement that Pelosi, of all people, met the Pope this week. That's about as odd as David Duke meeting Louis Farrakhan.

The Pope heads to the USA!

While most of the crowds will be ridiculously happy, I'm sure the MSM will find a couple of discontented former hippies to interview.

Abe Foxman can't be satisfied

Well, we went and changed the Good Friday prayer, in a spirit of [appeasement] and what happens? They're still not happy. How dare we actually pray for someone not of our own faith. How dare we hope they see what we see.

It ain't enough. Read his statement here:
http://www.adl.org/PresRele/VaticanJewish_96/5220_96.htm

I find it interesting that at the bottom of the page of this statement, the ADL says they were "founded in 1913, (and) is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry."

Gee, I wonder if they have a program to counteract their own hatred against Christ and all of His followers?

Pope looks to get rid of 60's "happy music"

It's been awhile, but I've had a chance to pop my head up and see what's going on in the Catholic world around me, and what do I read, but the Pope is looking to get back to some traditional Catholic music! Good for him, and good for all of us! Too bad for all those 1960's radicals, though, as their grip slips again!

President Bush meets Pope Benedict XVI

President Bush will meet with Pope Benedict at the Vatican this weekend. Should be an interesting conversation, although I doubt the Pope will engage in too much "I told ya so" kind of stuff...

Pope Benedict Caricature

Pope Benedict stopped by my office recently, since he'd heard about this awful conservative Catholic who was doing all these awful cartoons. So we chatted a bit about nothing in particular, although he had nothing but good things to say about The Crescat (www.thecrescat.blogspot.com).

Anyway, he struck a pose and said, "Hey, draw me like so." So I figured, hey, what the heck. I didn't even charge him for it.

[Of course, all of the preceding is a huge load of malarkey; but feel free to check out my latest efforts - doing military caricatures for the Best of the Best : www.pnichols.com/caricatures.html]
