Ash Wednesday
Whenever you go to get ashes, and then go out into public, you'll get at least one person who will say to you "Uh, you got a little something up here", as they point to their forehead. This is due to the fact that the "cross" on the forehead usually looks like a smudge, like maybe you were working on your car engine and laid your head on the radiator for a rest.
Now, I know our Priests (or their duly appointed assistants) can't be expected to be Artistes, but I propose that those of us with artistic tendencies offer our services; we can apply ashes with flair while the Priest recites the "Remember, man...".
All this for just, say, $1 a head. Say, if I could hit a few of the larger Ash Wednesday Masses, a Professional Ash Wednesday Ash Application Technician such as myself could pull in some serious coinage. Plus, since it's Ash Wednesday, I wouldn't have to take a lunch break, giving me more time to dash about town to the next mass.
I think I'll write to my Bishop...

Let nothing get in the way of your Liberal politics...
This is from Feb. 12, but I found myself amazed (somewhat) at what the President of the Catholic Assumption University of Windsor (Canada)said about the Church's teaching on abortion: " It's not infallible teaching ".
And from a priest no less!
And natch, the Bishop has no comment.

To hell in a handbasket
From the way things are going, I suppose those of us who still have jobs should just quit them and stop paying our mortgages, since The Grand High Poo-Bah of the World of Welfare is going to just take care of everything for us!

The Abortion Cabinet
According to Life News, it appears that Obama is set to select Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as the new Health & Human Services Secretary.
Don't expect a "mea culpa" from the Catholics out there who claimed that Obama wasn't so radical on the abortion issue. What his "Catholic" supporters out there neglect to mention is that it's not just Obama himself, but all those he appoints to positions of power and influence that will really ramp up the pro-death march.
Appointing an abortion lover like Sebelius (again, another bad Catholic) is like appointing Ted Kennedy as Secretary of After-Party Dinner Transportation.

Obama devotion giving Jim Jones a run for his money
Sometimes, watching these dopes who swoon at the mere mention of The One's name is almost as entertaining as going to the movies. I honestly believe that if Obama started handing out that special Kool-Aid, these ding-dongs would be falling all over themselves to get in line. Welcome to the real "post-Christian" era.
The only difference between Jim Jones and Obama is that Obama is too slick to drink the Kool Aid himself.

One Holocaust bad, the other good?
Now, the German Chancellor is apparently arguing (as is the rest of Liberaldom) that the Pope shouldn't even allow Bishop Williamson to be a regular Catholic. "No membership for deniers!!!" seems to be their credo.
Personally, I don't care what Bishop Williamson's opinions are with regard to (secular) historical events. The precedent that we seem to be setting here is that membership in the Church now must be approved by the Liberal World, and that anyone who disagrees with the Liberal World View must be stricken from consideration.
Again, the irony is lost on the liberals - they object to someone who denies or minimizes the Holocaust of 60-some years ago, yet those who actively support and facilitate the ongoing holocaust of babies, well, those people are just fine.

Is the Pope responsible for our thoughts on non-Faith issues??
This is beginning to spiral out of control. Now, it appears that private Church matters have to be wrung through the secular wringer in order to appease the secularists. What does it matter to them? Oh, but when it involves the political or religious Left, I suppose it does.
Apparently, the Vatican is now, to shut these people up (as if it would), asking Bishop Williamson to repudiate himself. Here again, rather than telling someone to mind their own business, the Church is looking to appease some group pulling out an "offended" card. These "offended" groups will never be appeased until the Church rolls over and plays dead. Tossing them a few bones in the interest of "good will" certainly does no good. Someone needs to come up with a Catholic version of "Whatever" by Liam Lynch and play it every time "they" get "offended".
Father Z has far more reasoned thoughts on the issue here:
