At Christmas
A man is at his finest towards the finish of the year;
He is almost what he should be when the Christmas season's here;
Then he's thinking more of others than he's thought the months before,

When the Christmas spirit rules him he comes close to the sublime...

I hear that in many places something has happened to Christmas; that it is changing from a time of merriment and carefree gaiety to a holiday which is filled with tedium; that many people dread the day and the obligation to give Christmas presents is a nightmare to weary, bored souls; that the children of enlightened parents no longer believe in Santa Claus; that all in all, the effort to be happy and have pleasure makes many honest hearts grow dark with despair instead of beaming with good will and cheerfulness.  ~Julia Peterkin, A Plantation Christmas, 1934

And help the age of peace to come
From a Dreamer's martyrdom.

Next to a circus there ain't nothing that packs up and tears out faster than the Christmas spirit.  ~Kin Hubbard

Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall.  We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space.  ~Dave Barry

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?  It came without ribbons.  It came without tags.  It came without packages, boxes or bags.  And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore.  Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.  What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.  What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.  ~Dr Seuss

To fold a world in the embrace of God!

Christmas - that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance.  It may weave a spell of nostalgia.  Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance - a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved.  ~Augusta E. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no child-like faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.
Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies!
Francis P. Church
From the New York Sun, September 21, 1897.

If there is no joyous way to give a festive gift, give love away.
Author Unknown

Let us remember that the Christmas heart is a giving heart, a wide open heart that thinks of others first. Underneath all the bulging bundles is this beating Christmas heart.
George Mathhew Adams

From Home to home, and heart to heart, from one place to another.
The warmth and joy of Christmas, brings us closer to each other.
Emily Matthews

Somehow, not only for Christmas,
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others,
Is the joy that comes back to you.
And the more you spend in blessing,
The poor and lonely and sad,
The more of your heart's possessing,
Returns to you glad.
John Greenleaf Whittier

It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.
W. T. Ellis

The old, the very young;
The strangely lovely way they
Harmonize in carols sung.

Traditions that recall
The precious memories down the years,
The sameness of them all.

Their old familiar carols play.
And wild and sweet the words repeat.
Of peace on earth goodwill to men.

Washington Irving

Christmas reminds us we are not alone. We are not unrelated atoms, bouncing and ricocheting amid aliens, but are a part of something, which holds and sustains us. As we struggle with shopping lists and invitations, compounded by December's bad weather, it is good to be reminded that there are people in our lives who are worth this aggravation, and people to whom we are worth the same. Christmas shows us the ties that bind us together, threads of love and caring, woven in the simplest and strongest way within the family.
Donald E. Westlake

Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents.
Louisa May Alcott

Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind.
Mary Ellen Chase

Do they still make wooden Christmas Trees?
Charles Schulz
Linus Van Pelt in Peanuts.

Forget about the crackers,
And forget about the candy;
I'm sure a box of chocolates
Would never come in handy;
I don't like oranges,
I don't want nuts,
And I HAVE got a pocket-knife
That almost cuts.
But, oh! Father Christmas, if you love me at all,
Bring me a big, red india-rubber ball!
A. A. Milne
King John's Christmas.

He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.
Roy L. Smith

Heap on the wood! - the wind is chill;
But let it whistle as it will,
We'll keep our Christmas merry still.
Sir Walter Scott

And is it true? and is it true?
This most tremendous tale of all,
Seen in a stained-glass window's hue,
A Baby in an ox's stall?
The Maker of the stars and sea
Become a Child on earth for me?
And is it true? For if it is,
No loving fingers tying strings
Around those tissued fripperies,
The sweet and silly Christmas things,
Bath salts and inexpensive scent
And hideous tie so kindly meant.
No love that in a family dwells,
No carolling in frosty air,
Nor all the steeple-shaking bells
Can with this single Truth compare -
That God was man in Palestine
And lives today in Bread and Wine.
John Betjeman

And in our world of plenty
We can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world
At Christmastime.
Bob Geldof and Midge Ure

At Christmas play, and make good cheer,
For Christmas comes but once a year.

Famous fashion designers, indian fashion designers, names of fashion designers,  international fashion designers, Top Indian & International Designers

Top Indian & International Designers
Fashion designers are the real masters that embellish the beauty of women. Everybody doesn't have that perfect figure and elegant personality that should be flaunted. In fact nobody is perfect in this world. If someone is dark, then the other is plumpy or short heighted. It is the fashion designers that help you show off your best body features and disguise your body flaws through intelligent smart dressing. They shape up your body in the most modest manner and make you look stunning and sensuous.

Fashion designers have brought about a storm in this glamour world with their commendably fabulous variety. In the famous fashion designers list, the top Indian & International fashion designers are Ritu Kumar, Ritu Beri, Manish Malhotra, Rohit Bal, Hemant Trivedi, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Donatella Versace and Vallentino. There is something unique about every designer. One might focus on ethnic styling and the other on hottest western collection. Fashion industry has always welcomed new talent giving rise to the budding stars of tomorrow.

When it comes to fashion, its not just about smart clothing but it's about grooming your personality as a whole. For example if you are wearing the best of ensemble but with a wrong combination of shoes or handbag, it will spoil the whole charm of your elegant dress. Thus, there is a need to maintain balance and harmony. Everything should go well with the other. It is the fashion designers that work on you as a whole and enhance your attractiveness from head to toe.

  • For women, fashion jewelry can be a super way to dress up without investing too much money. With the increasing demand and popularity of fashion jewelries, these items are likely to have a very bright future.
  •  In place of expensive and precious stones, inexpensive materials like plastic, wood, glass, resin, brass, aluminum, copper, bone, horn, etc are used to make fashion or we can call it costume jewelry.
  • Fashion jewelry is just not confined to the elderly ladies but it is very popular among young girls too and it is not just purchased by girls who have a funky taste but also who have an elegant choice as these fashion jewelries come in simpler to the funkiest designs as well.
  • Fashion jewelry suppliers provide a broad range of these fashion jewelries like bracelets, necklaces, arm threads, rings, earrings, etc in the latest fashions and designs at competitive prices. An interesting quality about these fashion jewelries is that although they are inexpensive, they do not seem to be that cheap in price.
  • In fact they are designed in a way to give a classy and beautiful look and therefore, these are attracting the attention of the jewelry crazy girls these days.
  • If one needs authentic fashion jewelry, then there are various designs, colors and styles available but choosing the best and the most appropriate jewelry is a tough job due to the vast range. One can opt for several ornaments but their prices would surely vary from each other and from one dealer to another dealer. In this case, one can check out for a wholesale fashion jewelry supplier on the Internet as well, as it will help a person to select from a huge list of wholesale jewelry suppliers and exporters on the various web sites.
  • Now, the use of the Internet has helped the wholesale and exporting business by making it easy for both the customers as well as the suppliers. One can actually make a smarter choice by choosing the latest fashion jewelries from a good jeweler keeping his budget and taste in mind. But if one is thinking to supply or export the jewelries, then that tough either as now fashion jewelry is cheaper and one can sell it at a profitable price. There are some suppliers of jewelries who sell it according to its make.
  • Like for example, some just sell necklaces, some prefer selling small bracelets, so it depends upon the seller as to which type of jewelry he actually wants to supply. It also becomes easier for the seller to answer the questions of customers on that specific item and the item can be described more clearly.

Fashion Tips, Fashion Fundas, Fashion Styles for Indian Women, Fashion styles for Indian Woman

Fashion tips for women: -

Body frame:

If you are plump, avoid sleeveless cuts. Wear dark colors rather than going in for lighter shades and if you wish to wear lighter shades then prefer dull colors like instead of sky blue go in for dull blue or dirty blue. Small prints and vertical line prints give a slimmer look. Heavy built should avoid cotton sarees and Kota sarees and should instead attire oneself in Chiffon and Georgette sarees.

If you have a medium structure, you should choose beige and fawn colors. With this kind of constitution, you can dress yourself in georgette saree or satin. In case of blouses, prefer nets, as they are a great help in disguising physical flaws. If you are thin, you can carry off well in all colors. The entire range of beautiful shades will suit you. Sleeveless, deep cuts and strapped blouses can also be worn.

Skin tone:

If your complexion is fair, gold with a blend of copper would look wonderful. If you are medium/ wheatish colored, go in for mixed shades of white, beige and bronzy golden. Dark skin toned should wrap up themselves with goldenish copper shades.

Comfort level and personal attitude

Your comfort level becomes an equally important determinant in deciding your style. If you do not feel very comfortable wearing western outfits but at the same time want to maintain a smart cosmopolitan look, Indo western style would add on charm to your personality. If you are shy introvert types, then you can carry yourself better in a sari with boat necked or square necked blouses. If you are bold and outspoken type, you can choose to pick up sleeveless, deep-necked blouses or may be with straps.

So, whether you go in for hip-hop style or classic style fashion, it should coincide with your personality.

Top 25 most influential women around the world, Top 25 most influential woman, Indira Gandhi and Mother Teresa appear in the list from India

Nov 20: 2010 - Former Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi and Albanian nun Mother Teresa, who made India her home, are among Time magazine's '25 Most Powerful Women of the Past Century.'

The US news magazine's survey of 'the women who have most influenced our world' is topped by Jane Addams, an outspoken advocate for women's suffrage, who was the first American woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize and includes US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the sixth place.

Indira Gandhi ranked ninth, figured on TIME cover when she was elected prime minister in 1966 with a line reading, 'Troubled India in a Woman's Hands.'

'Those steady hands went on to steer India, not without controversy, for much of the next two decades through recession, famine, the detonation of the nation's first atomic bomb, a corruption scandal and a civil war in neighbouring Pakistan that, under her guidance, led to the creation of a new state, Bangladesh,' the magazine said.

'By the time she was assassinated, in 1984, Gandhi was the world's longest-serving female prime minister, a distinction she holds to this day.'

Of Mother Teresa, ranked 22nd, Time said: 'Her iconic white garb with its blue stripe trim is now equated with her ideals of service and charity among 'the poorest of the poor.''

'Sometimes criticised for lacking adequate medical training, not addressing poverty on a grander scale, actively opposing birth control and abortion and even cosying up to dictators, the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize nonetheless inspired countless volunteers to serve, and will wear her white habit all the way to Catholic sainthood,' it said.

The Bakrid festival is observed by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Paigambar Mohammad (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God. However, God intervened to provide him with a ram to sacrifice instead.
On this occasion people sacrifice goat, ram, camel and other cattles to mark the festival. The meat is divided into three parts to distribute. The family keeps one third of the share. Eid al-Adha 2010, Bakrid, Eid Ul Adha sms, Bakrid mubarak

When is Eid al-Adha in 2010? "Bakrid" confirmed to be celebrated on the 17th of November'10, Wednesday. People were even not done with Diwali as yet and here we have one more festival which is again the most enjoyable, full of fun and happiness, also celebrated worldwide that is "Bakrid".

Eid al-Adha in 2010 is on Tuesday, the 16th of November. Based on sightability in North America, in 2010 Eid al-Adha will start in North America a day later - on Wednesday, the 17th of November. Note that in the Muslim calander, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Adha on the sunset of Monday, the 15th of November.

Although Eid al-Adha is always on the same day of the Islamic calendar, the date on the Gregorian calendar varies from year to year, since the Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar and the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar. This difference means Eid al-Adha moves in the Gregorian calendar approximately 11 days every year. The date of Eid al-Adha may also vary from country to country depending on whether the moon has been sighted or not.

The dates provided here are based on the dates adopted by the Fiqh Council of North America for the celebration of Eid al-Adha. Note that these dates are based on astronomical calculations to affirm each date, and not on the actual sighting of the moon with the naked eyes. This approach is accepted by many, but is still being hotly debated. (Source - http://www.when-is.com/eid-al-adha-2010.asp)

Here is an Eid Ul Adha sms and Eid Ul Adha Shayari, eid ul Adha is also known as Eid ul Azah, its a widely celebrated festival of Muslim around the world. The shayari below is specially meant for the day of Eid ul Adha. Its in Hindi / Urdu . Send this to your friends and family.

List of things required to be purchased for new born baby, Checklist before baby arrival, Checklist for 1-12 months old baby

List of things required to be purchased for new born baby, Checklist before baby arrival, Checklist for 1-12 months old baby

Baby Clothes Checklist !
The moment you get pregnant, in addition to searching for a name for the baby, you are thinking and shopping for things for the baby. There is a lot of shopping to do and it takes a lot of time exploring your options and shopping for the best safest items and toys while keeping the cost low. Welcoming a new born baby requires many months to get yourself and your beautiful home ready for the new member to your family. It is always good to buy some of the baby things in advance to care of the baby during the early months. You will be busy in doing things like changing baby diapers, changing baby clothes and cleaning umbelical cord you will not have time to do detailed shopping. Here is a list that you will need to buy before the baby is born.
List of things for newborn babies:
1. Car seat: This is one of the time consuming things to shop for. I would advise buying a travel system that has both a car seat and a stroller. The main advantage is that the car seat fits into the stroller. So, when the baby is sleeping in the car seat, you don't have to wake up the baby to get into the stroller. You can just fit the car seat into the stroller and the baby's nap is undisturbed. I bought the Graco travel system which I have no complaints about. The rear facing car seat can be used up to 1 year or 22 pounds of your baby's weight. Follow the instructions for fitting the car seat and you can go to the local fire department if you need help.

Things for newborn babies
2. Crib: Crib is another thing to buy for your baby to sleep at night and shopping for a crib takes a lot of time. I bought a crib from JC Penny's website that has slats that are no more than 2 3/8" apart so that baby won't fall out from the crib. Most cribs do not come with the mattresses. You have to buy one separately. You can get good ones from Walmart for low prices. Pick out a mattress that has good back support. I bought the one that are not too soft. Buy the crib that comes with the drawer. It helps to store your baby's clothes and toys. Also, buy
  • Crib linens
  • 1 matress pad
  • 2 crib sheets
  • 2 waterproof mattress pads
  • 2 light blankets to cover your baby.
3. Diaper related stuff: I bought the infant diapers at target. I like the pampers brand which is really good and do not leak easily.
Baby wipes: Try to use thick soft wipes to clean your baby's bottom. I like the huggies brand which is thick and really good. You can buy from Costco or Sam's club in bulk to save money. I prefer the unscented ones.
Changing pad: It helps to change your baby's diaper.
Diaper bag: I bought the back pack kind of diaper bag which is easy to carry, looks good and is very convenient. You can pack all your baby's things like formula food, bottles, diapers, wipes, clothes and toys. I bought the one that has a changing mat and bottle holder.
Diaper rash cream: I bought the A&D diaper rash ointment. You can also use this for baby's lip dryness.
Helpful tip: I have been using valuable free coupons from coolsavings.com successfully and saved quite some money.
4. Baby's clothes: As you know babies grow faster, try to spend less amount of money on clothing. I bought most of the baby clothes at Kohl's during their clearance sale. The clothes were of good quality and at very cheap prices. I got many marked down items for $1 each. You can also buy clothes from the outlet mall, if you have one nearby. Here are the clothes you need for baby.
  • 7 onesies (0-3 months)
  • 4 stretch suits
  • 1 snow suit ( buy if the baby is born during the winter months )
  • 2 pairs of socks
  • 1 pair of mittens
  • 2 hats
  • 4 receiving blankets to cover your newborn baby
  • 2 thick blankets
  • 2 bibs
  • 3 wash cloths
5. Bath items:
  • Bath tub
  • Buy packaged bath kits that contain many acessories like thermometer, comb, scissors, nail clippers.
  • Shampoo: I personally like Johnson and Johnson's head to toe tear free baby shampoo to bath the baby.
  • Baby lotion
  • Baby oil: Again, I prefer Johnson's brand
  • Aquaphor: For dry skin - I bought the aquaphor which is too oily. I heard that Eucerin is also good.
  • Baby comb and nail clippers
  • Towel: Always buy the one which is soft and gentle and wash before using.
  • Laundry detergent: I like the Dreft brand laundry detergent
  • New born first aid kit: I bought the safety 1st brand that comes with the comb, nail cutter, nasal aspirator and thermometer.

6. Breast feeding equipment
  • Breast pump to pump your milk into the bottle
  • Nursing bras if you are breast feeding
  • Breast pads
  • Nipple cream
7. Bottle feeding items
  • 6 bottles and sterilizing equipment
  • 1 bottle brush
  • 1 bottle warmer
  • Infant formula milk: always check the expiration date and ask your doctor first.
8. Medicines
  • Rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs (for the umbelical cord)
  • Infant tylenol - for fever (you will need it when the baby gets immunization shots)
  • Mylicon for gas relief
  • optional: Gripe water. A great way to treat your baby's stomach problems. Babies cry a lot and sometimes it could be due to stomach problems. Giving a spoon of gripe water in the morning helps the baby's digestion. You can get gripe water in many Indian grocery stores or at Amazon. You should always consult with a pediatrician before giving medicines to your baby..
9. Other miscellaneous things
  • Bouncer: I bought the one that comes with the music, toys and vibrating massager. It helps to keep the baby happy. This is a great way to keep the baby entertained so you will have some time to do other things also.
  • 2 pacifiers

The following Baby Clothes Checklist will really help you to get organised. Print a copy and  check the items off of your checklist !
