Oldie but goodie...
Since "Catholic" Ted has come out and endorsed fellow socialist Barack Obama, I thought it might be fitting to pull out and dust off an old Ted Kennedy cartoon from a while back.

Good Friday prayer
It appears that some changes might be made to the Good Friday prayer for the Jews from the '62 Missal. I don't really see the point, but I'm just a layman. But I wonder why we (Catholics) wring our hands over what OTHERS think about our Liturgy and why, frankly, we even listen to them. I don't see Catholics knocking the Jews over whatever they happen to pray for, or sticking our noses in anyone else's liturgical business, demanding that they change things to suit us.
But Fr Z covers more and better ground than I can ever hope to, so take a jump over there: http://wdtprs.com/blog/2008/01/benedict-xvi-to-change-the-good-friday-prayer-for-jews-in-the-1962-missal/

Prayer for Christian Unity
Today is the 100th anniversary of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Here's how I'd compose my prayer:
************
Dear Lord, I believe in Your Word,
Would that all might believe and come Home.
Though the Protestant thinks it absurd,
He'll truly find You when he gets to Rome.
************
I know, I know - it's "Religiously Incorrect". But if we're to pray for "unity", what exactly does "unity" mean? To me, it means that all unite in the Ark of Salvation. Which means everyone in the water has to get in the boat.

Where's Your Bishop?
I know I've posted this picture before, but I have to toot the horn for the Bishop of Harrisburg, a Diocese of which I'm proudly a member. In an age when so many of them seem embarrassed by their Catholicity, Bishop Rhoades walks tall in his. He'll be at the March for Life in D.C. again this year.
What: Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg will take part in activities in the diocese as well as in Washington, D.C. to demonstrate support for the sanctity and protection of all human life. Many local people will travel to the National observance via buses from Shamokin, Danville, Middletown, Hershey, Lancaster, York, Carlisle, New Cumberland, Waynesboro and other local areas. Schedule: Sunday, January 20, 2008 - Millersville, PA 11:30 a.m. Diocesan Pro-Life Mass, Saint Philip the Apostle Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603. A vase of 35 flowers symbolizing the years since the Roe v. Wade decision will be on display.
Monday, January 21 - Washington, D.C. 7:00 p.m. Bishop Rhoades will concelebrate at the Vigil Mass for Life at the Basilica of the National Shrine, 400 Michigan Avenue NE, Washington, DC.
Political Potpourri
President Hoover didn't live up to his promise back in '28, but you can be sure that a President Hillary (gag) will do all she can to make hers come true.

Bishop envy at the IRS?
What with all the rules and regulations, and in some cases downright roadblocks, that some Bishops are employing to circumvent the Summorum Pontificum, I'll bet they're generating some envy from those cretins over at the IRS.
Read about some of it over at Fr. Z's (an older article, but indicative of the hatred that some have for the Latin Mass): http://wdtprs.com/blog/2007/08/bishop-of-pensacola-tallahassee-issues-his-own-norms-for-summorum-pontificum/

Send this to your choir director
I couldn't help myself. I can just see someone wearing this to a rehearsal and some hippie having a stroke over it. Now that Christmas is done, I have time to work on some more t-shirt designs.

Campaign Season!
How should a Catholic vote this year? I suppose you could pick any Republican simply based on the reasoning of "Well, at least he ain't a Democrat".
Looks like the Catholic Answers Forum has expressly forbidden any discussion of political candidates : http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=156527
Probably a good thing :oD

Happy New Year! (for most)
Well, another year slips by the calendar. The aging hippies see each year as one more step AWAY from the cliff they'd have us jump off. But not to worry - Gerald over at the Closed Cafeteria has a story on where the hippies' spirit still lives : http://closedcafeteria.blogspot.com/2007/12/lord-of-dance.html
